Lost out to a very strong Magheracloone side last Saturday. Training continues on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 and the next match is at home to Toome on Saturday week (9th May).
Clontibret were the visitors to St. Tiarnachs Park last Saturday and went away with the points in a scoreline of Clones 2:08 to Clontibret 2:11.
The first half was a close affair played at times in a downpour which contributed to the low score of 0:4 apiece at half time. Clontibret stating the best with 2 early points
but Clones settled in well and went ahead with 4 unanswered points, two a piece for Chrity Cadden and Eoin Mc Quaid. Clontribret scored two more before the break.
The 10 minutes after half time went to making the difference in the end when clontibret scored 2:4 without reply to go 10 points clear. Clones to thier credit dug deep to the end and with two goals from Steven Gratigis And with James Mealiff more and more involved got back to within 2 points. Clontibret finished with the last score to win by 3 points in a well contested game.

Clones U-12 A team travelled to Sean McDermott’s on Saturday, and were unlucky not to come away from the game with the win. Played under windy conditions, clones lost the toss and were forced to play against the breeze in the first half.
Sean McDermott’s started the brighter and took a 2 point lead with the first 5 minutes, but Clones with a Christopher Cadden point. Shortly Eoin McQuaid and James Mealiff had two great efforts go wide of the posts. Sean’s were starting to take their chances and went further ahead with another two points and then a mistake in the Clones defence led to a goal being conceded. Clones responded with a well taken Eoin McQuaid point from 20 yards. With Jason McNamee and Fabian Beggan having a great half first half in defence.
Second half got off to a great start for Clones, with James Hamill and Daniel freeman scoring points for the visitors, with the second half only started, Sean’s got a player sent off for two yellow cards. What should have spurn Clones on, made Sean McDermott’s more determine to work harder and paid off. They scored 1 – 4 with out reply from Clones. Put Clones kept plugging away and were rewarded by a goal of great hand passing which found its way into the hands of Daniel Freeman and he made no mistake of the finish.
With Sean McGovern and David McCabe coming on for Jason McNamee and Daragh Slowey, Clones were giving a new option in attack. Svajunas Grigaitis scored a point and Daniel Freeman was having a excellent day in front of goals accounting for 1 – 2 on the day, having kick a point from a free kick. Chances after chances came for Clones but time was against them in the end.

Carrick brought their squad down to Clones last Saturday and provided both teams with two very competitive and entertaining games. Thanks to Carrick for travelling. The second round of the league takes place this Saturday, with team 1 travelling to the Seans and team 2 travelling to Blackhill. Both games are at 3:30.
Both Under 12 teams have a challenge against Carrickmacross tomorrow (Saturday). All players are to be at the pitch for 10:15.

Juvenile coaching continues every Saturday in St Tiarnach’s Primary School. Coaching for boys and girls born after 31st July 1999 is from 3pm to 4 pm. Under 12 team 2 Coaching is on from 4:15pm to 5:15pm. Any parents willing to help out are most welcome. Contact John at 086-3780515 for more information.
