Well done to our seniors who earned another two league points with a hard earned win against Oram on Sunday. The home team got off to a slow start and a couple of Micky Mone free kicks saw the visitors lead by 3 points to 1 after 12 minutes. Clones controlled the remainder of the half, however, with Darren Freeman, Declan McKernan, Adrian Alford and Mark Connolly scoring points. A further score from Micky Mone and a free from Aaron Molloy for Oram saw the first half finish on a scoreline of Clones 0-9 Oram 0-5.

After the break, Freeman added another point and a great break break from defence by Danny Rooney set up Darragh Graham for a score. Oram fought hard though and Clones struggled to seal the win. The decisive play came in the 17th minute when Mark Connolly looked set to go for a point, but lobbed the keeper for an excellent goal. This was followed by scores by John Mc Donald and Declan McKernan, while Freeman finished his day’s work with his eight and ninth points of the game. Oram battled away, with Micky Mone adding four second half frees and Danny Lynch adding a point from play.

This game got off to a very controversial start, when the referee saw fit to issue a Clones player with two yellow cards and a red within two minutes of the throw in. This had quite an unsettling effect on the the Clones team and led to a disappointing first half performance, Emyvale leading by 1-5 to 0-1 at the break. The second half saw a much improved display, with six different players getting on the scoreboard. The boys could only get within three points of the home team, however, and were unable to get the goal needed to equalize.
