Well done to our seniors who bounced back from disappointment against Emyvale to defeat Currin last Saturday. The lads were slow to get out of the blocks and trailed 3-1 after 10 minutes. Clones dominated the remainder of the first half, however and a goal from the returning Kieran Kierans (who always seems to perform against Currin!) helped them to a half time lead of 1-7 to 0-5.
The second half was a lively affair, although Clones were always in control. Two goals from Declan McKernan and a number of points from Darren Freeman saw the visitors lead by 8 points late in the game before a Currin goal with the last kick of the game left the final score Currin 2-10 Clones 3-12.

We lost out to Emyvale in the semi-final of the championship last Saturday. Things were looking well for Clones when we lead by three points with 7 minutes of normal time to play. Emyvale ended strongly, however, scoring 1-2 to no reply to earn their place in the final. Team Ciarán Morgan, John Jenkins, Eoin Kelly, Danny Rooney, Patrick McCarville, Fintan Kelly, Darragh Holland, Ross Adamson, John McDonald, Adrian Alford (0-3, 0-2f), Darren Freeman (0-6, 0-5f), Colm Connolly (1-1), Micháel Treanor, Declan McKernan (0-1), Darragh Graham (0-1). Subs: Declan McQuaid (0-1), Colin McCaughey.
The biggest game of the year so far takes place this Saturday as our senior team take on Emyvale in the Junior Championship Semi-Final. The game takes place in Scotstown at 5:30pm. The league matches earlier in the year yielded a home win for each side, so a very competitive encounter is likely. All support would be greatly welcomed.
Kept their winning run going with a dramatic late win against Seans last Sunday. In very wet conditions, the boys got off to a slow start and trailed by five points to no score after 15 minutes. Colm Connolly goaled for Clones’ first score of the game, but Seans replied quickly with a goal of their own. The home side battled back in the remainder of the half, drawing level at 1-6 apiece but Seans finished the first half with a point to lead by 1-7 to 1-6 at half time. Clones might well have led at the break but for a penalty save by the Seans keeper. A Declan McKernan goal after ten minutes of the second half put Clones in front for the first time. With ten minutes to go, Seans retook the lead with another goal. They held a two point lead going into injury time and looked likely to take the win. Clones kept battling, however, and when Darragh Holland was put through on goal, his cool finish put the home team a point ahead. Darren Freeman added a forty-five to stretch the lead to two. With time running out, Seans needed to go for a goal, but the Clones defence stood firm and the game ended Clones 3-9 Seans 2-10. This win sees Clones stay top of the league with two games to go. Team: Ciarán Morgan, Declan McQuaid, Eoin Kelly, Danny Rooney, Colin McCaughey, Darragh Holland (1-0), Patrick McCarville, John McDonald, Ross Adamson, Adrian Alford (0-2), Darren Freeman (0-2), Colm Connolly (1-1), Fergal Nugent, Declan McKernan (1-3), Darragh Graham (0-1). Subs: Ciarán Kelly, Fintan Cunningham.
Junior Championship: Clones earned a place in the Junior Championship semi-final with victory over Blackhill in Clontibret last Saturday evening. The boys got off to a slow start and Blackhill led by a point after 10 minutes. Three points from Adrian Alford, two from Colm Connolly and one each from Declan McKernan and Darren Freeman saw Clones lead by a scoreline of seven points to two at the break. A much better start to the second half saw Darragh Holland extend the lead before a great solo run by Danny Rooney almost ended in the Goal of the Season, but the shot was saved. Soon after that, an excellent team move saw Darren Freeman hit the back of the net. Declan added another point before Blackhill scored a goal of their own. Clones responded quickly, however, and Declan fisted a high centre to the back of the net to effectively seal the game. Colm, Adrian and Declan tagged on points and we could even afford a missed penalty late on. Final Score: Clones 2-12 Blackhill 1-5 Team : Ciarán Morgan, John Jenkins, Eoin Kelly, Danny Rooney, Colin McCaughey, Darragh Holland (0-1), Patrick McCarville, Ross Adamson, John McDonald, Adrian Alford (0-4), Darren Freeman (1-1), Colm Connolly (0-3), Ciarán Kelly, Declan McKernan (1-3), Fergal Nugent. Subs: Darragh Graham, Fintan Cunningham, Eugene Holland, Declan McQuaid.
