The 2008 AGM took place on Saturday, 6th December in the Club Rooms. In his address to the meeting, Chairman Tom Kelly discussed some of the positives of the year such as: receiving the Letter of Offer for the development at Coyle’s; the success of Monaghan minor and VEC teams, on which Fintan Kelly, Mark Connolly and Declan McQuaid represented the club; our involvement in Feile; the Hackett Cup Anniversary Dinner; Colm Kirke’s success at Scor and the purchase of a defibrilator for the club. He thanked the Credit Union and all the other sponsors for their continued support. Thanks also to Meabh Kerr, who was standing down as Treasurer. Tom finished by naming some challenges for the year ahead, pointing out that “No man can do everything, but everyone can do something”.
Donald and Declan reported our Senior team had a mixed year, doing well in the Championship despite losing out in final. The general tone of the juvenile reports was that the teams did not perform as well as might have been expected. However, some positive steps have been taken by installing a club coach in the local schools and entering a second Under 12 team. The following were named as Players of the Year: Senior: Fintan Kelly, Reserve: Eugene Holland, Minor: Fintan Kelly, Under 14: Ciaran Corr, Under 13: Michael Morgan, Under 12: Kevin Reilly. The following were returned unopposed: Chairman: Tom Kelly, Secretary: Ben Quinn, Registrar and Insurance Officer: Martina Holland, PRO: John Holland, Culture and Irish Language Officer: Donal Quigley, Players’ Rep: Fintan Cunninghan, Executive Members: Alan Alford, Jim Cleary, Martin Connolly, Liam Doherty, Frank Dolan, Tommy McCabe, Colin McCaughey, Declan McKernan.
